During the day, I work part-time in marketing and communications for the Charles County Economic Development Department, promoting our county in Southern Maryland that is “Close to the Capital. Far from Ordinary” through social media, web updates, press releases, and general marketing efforts. Prior to that, I worked five years with an association for hepatologists. While there, I learned about all aspects of marketing a major medical conference–writing and placing ads, writing and editing text for a course catalog, and coordinating a targeted email campaign.
I’m a “transplant” from Indiana and moved to Southern Maryland in 2004 after marrying my husband, a native of Sri Lanka and astrophysicist. We have two boys. My interests include economic development, healthcare, raising children, crosscultural marriage, Indian and Sri Lankan cooking, and travel.
