The Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head (NSWC IHD) is one of Charles County’s greatest assets, as a part of the County’s major employer, NSF Indian Head, and the main reason energetics-related businesses want to locate in the Town of Indian Head. Tech businesses, especially those working with energetics, are relocating to the Western Charles Technology Corridor to be near the NSWC IHD and to be a part of the energetics renaissance taking place there. High School CTE Program Fuels the Workforce Pipeline
Charles County public high school students can explore career pathways and earn college credits or industry certifications through Charles County Public Schools’ CTE (Career and Technical Education) program. The CTE program is an important part of the local workforce pipeline, preparing high school graduates for further education or direct entrance into the workforce. Read more.

Charles County-Based Tech Startup Awarded Grant with Guidance from TEDCO’s Proposal Lab
A tech startup from Charles County, Opal HTM, recently won a Phase 1 STTR grant award with the help of TEDCO’s SBIR/STTR Proposal Lab, which taught him how to write a successful grant proposal that landed him the grant. Each year, the National Science Foundation awards $200+ million in such grants for research and development (R&D) to about 400 startups across the nation. Read more.

Honey Finds Its Sweet Spot

This humble pantry staple harks back to 2,400 B.C., during the early days of beekeeping in Cairo, when Ancient Egyptians used honey as a sweetener and medicine for a variety of ailments.
